Solitary Readings
Haikus
by Huan Tzu Shi & Go Mei Zhu
snowy pinions flutter
in the cold winter wind,
snow eagles seek shelter.
-
fishes hide in a rock pool
cool and undisturbed
as the sunlight blaze above.
-
the old flower bends
to the sighing breeze
young flower stands tall.
-
soft snap of dry twig,
in the shadows hungry eyes
focus on shattered silence.
-
dawn unwinds,
two ducks swim closely
embracing the silence.
on white lotus-
red dragonfly stands still-
guarding beauty.
in the icy crystal air,
snow egrets watch with regret :
as the last leaf wither and bend.
fierce autumn winds :
leaves shiver in their wake...
as petals become butterflies.
-
prism of colors swim by-
clear water flows, sparkling cold
between shadowing leaves.
-
this early dawn:
silver and gold fishes
paint sunlight in the deep waters.
-
in the moonlight...
flowers shine like pearls,
set on black velvet.
-
in the stillness of dawn...
the flowers glow aflame
announcing the sun.
-
on the silent pond
a tiny bud pushes off
the last withered leaf.
-
a bird perched on a rock,
a mere puff of bright fluff...
acres of songs.
-
flowing stream...
fishes swim slowly beneath-
unmindful of the flower above.
-
a white lotus
cups it petals to the light,
dead leaves cast only shadows.
-
boats lie on their side,
reed baskets overflow
with silver harvest.
-
on white lotus-
red dragonfly stands still-
guarding beauty.
-
two wild ducks
bend the mirror of water
softly rippling the light.
-
a fish lingers
slower than the rest
takes a new path.
-
chorus of flowers
some bow too soon...
revealing the others
